I wrote "The Gift of Social Anxiety: Finding Rest in God's Grace" nearly 10 years ago. Since then, very little has changed in our scientific understanding of social anxiety.
As it turns out, God's grace is the perfect antidote to social anxiety. It always has been, and it always will be. Social anxiety is a fear of judgment, embedded deep within our minds and bodies. God's unconditional love, on display through Jesus, negates all that. If God doesn't judge us, why would we judge ourselves? Or listen or fear the judgment of others?
That's the central task for those of us living with social anxiety: to believe what God believes about us. Today, in this moment, we are perfect in Him. Do you believe that?
And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” ~2 Corinthians 12:9a
